Talk Derby to Me

This past Saturday was the Kentucky Derby, and while I don't follow horse racing closely, I'll never turn down a good party--any chance to break out my newest Lilly purchases! Sunday, my sister's Phi Mu chapter had their own version. (Don't let the big hat fool you, sunglasses were definitely still needed!)

I wore the newest Lilly two piece and I'm obsessed! I've never been much of a crop top kind of girl, but this one isn't really what I'd consider a crop. The skirt almost, almost, almost, touches the top--so depending on how you're standing or sitting, you may not see skin at all!

I tried a mint julep (the signature "derby drink") and I have to say I'm not that impressed. It was like drinking straight bourbon. I felt like I should be an old man in his study with his smoking jacket on. (Am I the only one?!) I think I'll stick to the mimosas! And how could we resist taking a picture like this! #adorable

Did you attend any Derby parties this weekend?

  1. All of you look so cute. I definitely don't follow the KY Derby. But I might need to host a party just for fun next year.

  6. Ah! So, so stinking cute! I'm from Jersey so we don't really do much for the derby except you know.. ask what the heck it is hahaha. But I adore the fashion and excuse to wear hats a bit more out there and dresses with more POP in them! Such a cute set :)

  7. Omgosh!!! Those pictures!! So so so cute. I am so jealous of this.
I'll tell you a secret growing up my grandfather was a major horse racer, we always had ponies and my poppy had his race horses. Unfortunately the racing is different here and not at all hyped in the Fashion/social community.

I ant to change it!!! I would looooove to attend a horse race dressed pretty like you!
Don't even get me started on the hats, I would die to own those hats!! :)))))

    1. LOL! My boyfriends family owns a few horses, but they don't race them. And I've never actually been to a race. Dressing up and going to parties is better!

  9. Love the outfit & hats! Haha I actually love mint juleps, they are a good alternative to the usually fruity cocktails I drink.

  10. That outfit is adorable! I had never heard of Lily Pulitzer before the whole Target thing, but I've loved what I've seen since then. I lived in Kentucky for 2 years and never got the chance to go to a Derby party.

  11. That last picture is adorable. I've still never tried a mint julep and like you said I'll stick to what I enjoy. Plus for me a mojito has mint so it's close enough right?
