The Problem with Wanting it All

Queen said it best: "I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now." You know you want to sing along.

Which is true. I want everything now. To be engaged/married, those Hunter rain boots I've been eyeing, that vacation to hurry up and get here. I could go on for days. I have a list in my phone; it's a problem.

But there are a actually a few problems with wanting it all RIGHT NOW

First of all, if you spend your whole life consumed with the future (and what you don't have/when you'll have it), you'll miss all of the great things happening right now; right in front of your eyes.

You'll also be broke. Keeping up with the Jones's (or your fave fashion blogger) will put a damper on your happiness and wallet. I suffer from it too--I have a running list of things I'd  love to have. Tory Burch sandals, Tory Burch purse, Hunter rain boots, etc. but if I tried to buy it all at once, I wouldn't have money to pay for rent. Tip: Save money for one thing at a time. (how do people afford all of these things at one time--if there's a secret if love to be let in on it)

Sometimes you can't literally have it all at one time. It's just not possible. For example, I can't own my own house and have three dogs and be married and go to Europe all at the same time right now. I'm just not at that point in my life.

AND, there will always be something to add to the list.
Delayed gratification is a thing (or so I'm told by my father), that everyone should practice. Or try at least once. It makes having to work for something that much sweeter.

But if you aren't into waiting, you can enter the giveaway below to win $200! Yay!

  1. I've always tried to wait awhile to get something that I want. Because half the time, I don't even want it later!

  2. Great advice. Wanting it all right now is great until the later doesn't have what you Need!

  3. I'm with Becca! If there's something expensive that I want I definitely try to hold off as long as possible and save up for it. By the time I have the money, it goes into savings most of the time because I no longer want the original item!

  4. I have the want it all problem and it sucks! Whenever I want something, I can't stop thinking about it until I get it. It's pathetic.

  5. I'm convinced the only way all those fashion bloggers have all those beautiful items is because they're gifted to them. They'll wear them a few times and then sell them and use the cash to buy items not gifted to them. No way can normal people afford to buy so many expensive things at the same time
