Goals, Goals, All Types of Goals

Happy Monday and start of a new month! I'm more chipper today than I've been in awhile because...

...JOSH GOT A JOB! He starts his first day TODAY. It's been a long, tough road, but he's been such a trooper and is proof that hard work pays off. I'm so so proud of him and can't wait to see where this next chapter leads us. We joked this weekend that essentially, him getting this job is the start of the rest of our lives. Things are starting to fall into place and it's all very exciting!

Also, since it's the start of a new month (how is it already June), I've made some goals (blogging, health, money).

Blogging:

Increase Instagram followers. I love sharing my day to day life with all of my readers, so if you don't already, follow me on Instagram!

Overcome writer's block. Lately, I haven't been feeling all that inspired. I've been trying to slow down and really be present on the weekends instead of trying to come up with the next best thing to blog about. And that leaves me to not having anything to write about Monday-Friday. Planning in advance/taking the time to sit down and really think about what I want to write about should help with this.  (P.S. This post was not planned #fail)

Health:

Eat clean-er. Ever since I watched Fed Up, I'm literally fed up. I've been putting nothing but junk in my body (spoonfuls of icing--I'm looking at you) and hoping that I'll lose weight. Isn't that the definition of insanity? By implementing a little bit of the Whole30 and eliminating MOST forms of sugar (hey, I'm not perfect) I hope to see a change in how I feel.

I plan to stay away from most dairy, all added sugars, and try to incorporate more fruits and vegetables. I can't promise I'll stay away from all carbs, but I will be checking their sugar content--according to Fed Up, the recommended amount of sugar is about 6-9g and the average person eats that (and more) for breakfast.

Financial:

Stick to the budget and save money. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, even to myself. This is THE HARDEST thing for me to do and keep up with. I made a budget today and have planned out all of the expenses I think I'll have--even my friend's Bachelorette Party. This month, I will stick to the budget and SAVE the amount I've planned to. If it's not in the budget, I can't/won't buy it.

Have you made any goals for this week/month?

  1. Do yourself a favor and really commit to doing a true Whole30. You can do it, and after a few weeks, you'll be unstoppable.

    1. I've been researching it and read that you shouldn't do it when you know you'll cheat--I have a bachelorette trip at the end of the month so I know I'll cheat then. I'm going to have to wait until I have no social things going on to fully commit!

    2. See that right there is smart planning! I am so bad about this and start things like that too close to an event where I know that I will cheat like a trip or something. Good planning girl!

    4. Yes, make sure you have a 30 day stretch without a big event. Otherwise, you're doomed from the start. I avoided my birthday when I did mine, thank goodness, because I was not going to miss out on birthday cake! Good luck!

  9. I've heard great things about Fed Up! So many people have recommended it to me. I feel you with the eating. Exercise comes relatively easy to me but I always seem to negate my progress with my eating habits. Best of luck!

  12. Loving your goals. For me writing down my goals so I can see them makes me so much more accountable so you've totally mastered the first step (:
I eat way too much sugar too- I'm really trying to cut back!

  13. I've been having the same problem with writer's block! I've also been working on moving my blog to Wordpress, and I feel like all I want to do is work on that rather than writing. But then at the same time, I have so much to write about, I just don't feel like putting it on paper! Ah! Congrats on Josh's job! That's really exciting, and I hope he had a great first day.

  14. I love setting goals for myself and have decided to set "summer goals" for myself instead of month to month.
Congrats on Josh's job -- that's so exciting.
I'm in the job hunt process as well so I'm hoping everything comes together soon for me as well.

  15. Sometimes I seriously think we're the same person. Increasing my Instagram following was my goal for June and it went so well I'm only a few followers short of my end of summer goal! This month I'm focusing on spending less so I can save for an end of summer birthday trip and eating healthy which I'm hoping will be easier because I won't allow myself to spend money on fast food

  16. Love these goals! I'm hoping to improve in blogging, exercise, and finances this month as well!

I feel you on writers block. I sat down yesterday to write some post and got nothing :(

Fed Up is an amazing show to watch to really think about what you are eating. I really have been reading labels since and noticing all the extra sugar in food eekk. Time to really revamp the food situation!!
    Happy Monday

  25. I've been trying to make and stick to budgets, but it's always a lot harder than it seems like it's going to be. This month though I'm going to try really hard not to deviate from it.

  28. There are some days I scold myself because I've treated my body like a straight up trash can. I find that if I keep track of when I've exercised and calories (I personally am motivated by calories burned) on a calendar, it keeps me motivated. The more often I work out, the less I'm likely to eat bad foods... the last thing I want after a jog or a long walk is unhealthy food.

You will do great, lady!! New month, new start! :)

    Congrats to Josh! :)

  29. I've done the whole 30 before and it helped SO much just realizing what I was putting in my body! Now I couldn't make it the whole 30 days and still put agave in my coffee, but the 20-some days I did were definitely rewarding!
