Better late than never, right? Also, sticking with palm fronds because I refuse to believe summer is over. Although, technically, in South Louisiana summer can last into October, so...
Someone recently pointed out to me that I don't actually stick with any goals I make and that I'm technically a fraud...well...I'm only human, y'all. I can make a goal to lose weight and cut out junk food, but let's be real. If a cosmic brownie or zebra cake come anywhere near me, I'm eating it and not regretting one icing filled bite. #sorrynotsorry
This month, in an effort to set more realistic goals (but not necessarily EASY goals), I've only set three.
1. Cut out coffee + energy drinks. I had a huge problem this weekend when an energy drink induced a panic attack and fueled my already high anxiety levels--possibly more on this later. It put the brakes on an otherwise SUPER FUN road trip.
2. Continue to find a workout schedule that works for me. Typically, I've been able to stick to about 3x a week.
3. Hit ALL of my goals on my Fitbit 1x a week and my step goal 3x a week. If you aren't familiar with Fitbit, it presets a goal for daily calories burned, steps walked, active minutes, and total miles walked. Hitting all of these would mean I was super active during the day (and a zebra cake wouldn't break the scale).
Easy peesy, right? I'm keeping it simple this month--or what's left of it!
What goals did you set this month?
Shew I need to find a workout schedule too!
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, I haven't worn my fitbit since last school year. This is definitely a reminder for me. Maybe that should be a September goal for myself!
ReplyDeleteGoodness I always consider writing a goals post but then that means I actually have to stick to them...oops lol Good luck with yours though!
ReplyDeleteThose are some good goals! I gave up coffee & energy drinks 9 years ago...hardest two weeks of my life but then it was super easy.
ReplyDeleteI have a FitBit as well and try to reach my daily goals all the time! I must say though, it can get extremely frustrating when I don't hit my goal! xx, kenz

We are all just human! I'm sorry someone "called you out" in that way. Aren't we all frauds sometimes?
ReplyDeleteMore power to you for sticking it to the people that called you out in this post, gf! x Nicole | www.changeanddress.com
ReplyDeleteNice! I think you'll be able to do it. I find that writing my goals on my blog keeps me way more accountable.
ReplyDeleteGreat job with these goals, and way to stick it to the haters! Love your honesty and boldness, you do you!

Cutting off coffee can be hard especially when you're use to drinking it everyday. I did that once and quit cold turkey biggest migraine for 3 days. I couldn't do it. lol
ReplyDeleteI think that if you try and are working to making progress to your goal, you are not a fraud! People need other things to be concerned with. These are great goals- I gave up sodas in January and feel so much better sticking to one cup of coffee a day. It's hard at first, but you can do it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck girly! xo.

I think the point of goals is that they are flexible...and whether we get done what we say we will isn't really the point - it's about doing the work and making a plan.
ReplyDeleteAs for my September goals, I want to finish painting the furniture that has taken up residence in my garage (it's just about cool enough in coastal Mississippi for me to consider that), organize my office at home, and get everything on the walls. I'm also hoping to get back to walking after work. I need to move more.
I think your goals are totally realistic and you shouldn't feel too guilty about missing the mark occasionally, no one achieves all of their goals all of the time. I'm trying to get into a more consistent workout schedule as well...props to you for cutting out coffee (I WOULD DIE).
ReplyDelete#3 is spot on!
ReplyDeleteI would love to hit my FitBit goals more regularly as well.

Zebra cakes are my weakness, too... now you've made me want to go buy some. I think these goals are all reasonable and I hope you are able to reach them! If not, don't beat yourself up over it. We ARE only human and whoever called you out should be ashamed of themselves!

Oh jeez I could never ever cut out coffee!! Props to you. I aspire to do it - one day (I'm the biggest procrastinator!). I'm training for a half marathon race on Sunday - so I'm just focusing on completing the distance :)

Cutting out energy drinks is such a great idea! I haven't had a true energy drink in SO long, and I love not being dependent on them. I've never had issues with coffee, its more of a comfort thing, but I totally understand! I am forever trying to hit my daily step goal on my FitBit. I have it set at 12k to at least try to push myself a little harder. I'm so much more likely to get extra steps in whenever I'm participating in one of their daily challenges!
ReplyDeleteI use to love wearing my fit bit! Good luck on hitting those goals!
ReplyDeleteThese are great, attainable goals!! My goals for this new school year are too read 20 minutes every night, and work out 3 to 4 times a week!
ReplyDeletexo Ashley
Great goals! I wear a Jawbone and try to hit 12,000 steps/day...usually only happens a few times a week - whatevs, I try! And zebra cakes. YUM.
ReplyDeleteLove this! So many great goals!

I need work schedule too! Great goals and Good luck on hitting those goals!
ReplyDeleteProps to you for wanting to cut out coffee! I'm convinced I wouldn't be able to do that -- I feel like I can't survive without it! My goals are to drink more water and continue to make healthy eating choices.
ReplyDeleteI've got to get on a better workout schedule. Yesterday I told myself I would be good, then I came home and had pizza and popcorn for dinner.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on cutting caffeine out of my diet again! I did it once before, and it really helped with my anxiety. If you need any tips, drink suggestions, etc., hit me up!

Your September goals are wonderful! You are definitely brave for giving up the coffee - I could never lol. Good luck on your goals!
ReplyDeletethese are great goals! I am giving up energy drinks as well- but not coffee. I developed a bad monster habit over the past few weeks and I am giving them up!
