Everybody's (Including Me) Workin' for the Weekend

Preface: This post is going to contain a whole bunch of random.

I think we can all come to the same agreement: the weekend went by way too fast!

For my little sister who started her freshman year today, the weekend went by too fast. For those of us not wanting to start another work week just yet, the weekend went by too fast.

On a side note: I really wish I was starting school. I know that sounds super nerdy and like why would you ever want to do that, but I really want school supplies a cute new backpack. Minus the classes and with my current ability to drink wine.

Here's a brief recap of this weekend:

  • I ate way too much pizza and ice cream (I'm now trying to detox--following Luisa's #eatpretty15 guide on Peaches to Pearls) I'm so excited to have something else to motivate me. You know the feeling where you know you're eating nothing but junk, but you just can't seem to stop? Me. For like the past two weeks.

  • The AC in our house broke. My room, already the hottest room in the house when the AC is working, turned into Hades over night. Here's hoping it gets fixed today because it's literally the reason I couldn't clean my room as much as I wanted to this weekend.
  • We went to see Marvel's The Fantastic Four and emerged to a truly beautiful (if it weren't so dangerous) lightning storm.

  • Lately, Josh and I have been fitting in date nights whenever we can. Working full time and sometimes longer doesn't leave a ton of room for hanging out, but we are making the best of it. After getting drinks on Thursday night last week, we've decided that we are old and can't hang and will from now on, save any drinking for Friday and Saturday (is this what growing up feels like?)-- Last night, we went truck shopping!

This is the week where I'm attempting to reach and achieve that balance I was talking about on Friday--Health/Work/Blog/Personal--getting it ALL together!

Here's to kicking Monday's butt!

  6. I'm excited to be a teacher because it means I can go back to school for the rest of my life, is that weird- probably, but I guess it means I chose the right career!! So sorry about your AC, sleeping and living in a hot room is awful. Looking into that eating plan too, I need something like that in my life. Happy Monday!

  9. Oh gosh weekends! They seem to fly by, but I also feel like it we had them more often we wouldn't enjoy them as much. That blog planner checklist is super cute, such a good idea! I'm going to pin it in hopes that somebodddyyy buys it for me for Christmas. :)

  13. I feel ya with not being able to hang! I am such an old person and need at least 8-9 hours of sleep to function at work the next day

  14. I'm the same way with school supplies. I like to make up reasons to buy them. I just bought a notebook for no reason the other day because it was cute. That's depressing about your AC! It's way too hot for that madness.

  15. Oh I really want to get a planner from Heart and Arrow. I've seen them all over Instagram!

  16. Weekends are always way too short. I love getting new pencils and pens for class. This is my last year in school but I still find reasons to purchase pens and pencils all the time. I can't help it!

  18. Yikes girl I hope your AC gets fixed! On my study abroad trip this summer, both host families that I lived with didn't have AC and I was traveling during a heat wave so it was awful!!

Have a great rest of your week! :-)

  20. I personally write everything down in my Lilly Pulitzer planner for blogging. I know what day of the week what type of post goes up and then I look to see what post idea I have that fits for that day!

  30. I'm totally with you on the first one -- I spent the weekend in Maine with my dad's side of the family (23 of us!), and this side of the family sure does love to eat. I don't think there was a time that whole weekend when I wasn't eating! I went to the gym yesterday and I started a detox as well. Just like you said -- I hate knowing I'm eating all of that junk food but I just can't seem to stop!

  31. It looks like you had a great weekend!
