My 9-5 really wears me out--it's almost pathetic to admit, but sitting at a desk for eight hours zaps my energy and enthusiasm. That's why I really look forward to 5PM. I've gotten in to a sort of routine these past few weeks that really adds life to my otherwise mundane work schedule.
Night Time Routine:
I just started a bootcamp, so four days out of the week, you can find me squatting, lifting tires, and kickboxing for two hours after work. Sounds grueling (and it is), but while I'm there, I don't think of anything else and that really helps with my stress/anxiety.
Next it's a quick, healthy dinner. I'm still hoping to lose those last few pounds, so I've been eating pre-portioned meals--next week, I'm going to try to make them on my own. Let me say, it's super hard to eat dinner around Josh, who is trying to GAIN weight and eating things like pizza, fried chicken, and all of the foods I can't have.
My favorite part of the night is when I get to sink into a bubble bath and read a good book. I've been on a roll lately--I've literally read three books in the past week!
Lavender essential oil--a lifesaver. I start diffusing it the minute I step into the bath or shower. By the time I get out of the bath, my room smells heavenly and makes me relax and gradually get sleepier and sleepier. For me, it works like Zzquil, but without the hangover feeling in the morning! Also, if I don't get 7-8 hours of sleep a night, I can't function the next day!
I do most of my blogging at night (the night before a post goes live--horrible habit--note to self: schedule in advance). I try to write a few post before falling asleep--sometimes it doesn't work out that way, but I do the best I can!

A bubble bath & a good book sounds so relaxing right now.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the smell of the bathroom and bedroom after oils in the tub is soooo relaxing and reading is a great non-screen time way to unwind. I am a night time / kids nap time blogger so I understand the rush :) www.mustbeamomblog.com
ReplyDeleteI rarely need the TV on to fall asleep anymore and in fact I'll shut it off before I sleep instead of using the sleep timer!
DeleteI never got into the essential oils bandwagon, but heard amazing things from them.My friend used to spritz some on her pillow at it did smell divine.. But between my allergic husband and our pet we try to keep smells to a minimum.
ReplyDeleteI miss that in my current apartment I don't have a bathtub. I wish I could take a relaxing bubble bath with lavender smells and read a book (maybe on the weekend have a glass of win too) Definitely has to be something I look for when I move again.
ReplyDeleteI haven't jumped onto the essential oils because of my sensitive skin. Are they hypoallergenic?
ReplyDeleteDo you ever use the oil on the bottom of your feet before bed?
